Sault native Kalle Mattson recently made an appearance at George Stroumboulopoulos' house.

Mattson was part of a four-hour New Year's Day tribute to the Tragically Hip's 30th anniversary aired on the Strombo Show.

"The Strombo Show has invited Canada's best bands into my living room to celebrate and cover their favourite Hip songs and share their memories of the band, the music and of course, Gord Downie," Stroumboulopoulos said on the CBC Music page.

The show featured covers of the Hip's music by artists including Blue Rodeo, Arkells, Barenaked Ladies, Rheostatics, Sarah Harmer, as well as chats with the band's friends, fans and colleagues.

Mattson covered the Tragically Hip classic Wheat Kings for the special. "Thank you for all the kind words about my Wheat Kings cover on @TheStromboShow #TSSHip30, so nervous covering such an iconic song," Mattson tweeted. "Honoured."
