WEST FERRIS — A North Bay man and woman are in jail after a bizarre murder attempt Dec. 12.
Police say officers were called to a West Ferris home after a tip that someone had been forcibly confined.
Investigation revealed that a couple had stolen some personal items from the victim, and when the victim confronted them, they began a beating.
The victim was then choked, stabbed, gagged, handcuffed and pushed into a clothes dryer.
The victim heard the two discussing how they were going to kill them. The victim was able to escape the dryer and ran to a neighbour’s, where police were called.
Police arrived and a 34-year-old woman and a 35-year-old man were charged with attempted murder.
The 34-year-old female is charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Forcible confinement
- Assault with a weapon
- Robbery
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Breach of probation
The 35-year-old male is charged with:
- Attempted murder
- Forcible Confinement
- Assault with a Weapon
- Robbery
- Two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of a controlled substance
- Breach of probation
The two accused were held for a bail hearing.
North Bay Police say it will not be releasing the names of the accused to protect the identity of the victim.
