A test of Alert Ready, Canada's emergency alerting system, will take place across much of the country on Wednesday.
In Ontario, at 12:55 p.m. one test message will be issued over radio, television and compatible wireless devices.
In addition to being able to validate the effectiveness and reliability of the system, officials also point out testing allows them to increase public awareness about Alert Ready.
So far this year, the system has delivered more than 800 public emergency alert messages to Canadians.
