While looking for something interesting to do the other evening, I ventured into a new store I have been meaning to check out for quite some time. It's called BJ's Little Rodents & Reptiles and it is located at 18 Main St. in Chelmsford.

I have truly always been an animal lover. I grew up in a family of five and we always had a few cats, a dog, hamsters, gerbils or a bird in the house.

My love of photography takes me to all kinds of places and events in Greater Sudbury. I like to observe and document our daily lives, and I like to see how we, as a community, come together for the benefit of others.

Family Day is a holiday observed on the third Monday of February each year. It gives people a great opportunity to spend time reconnecting and enjoying activities with friends and loved ones.

On Saturday, Feb. 4, I attended the Nickel City Roller Derby's (NCRD) first fundraising event of 2012, which was an evening of music and art, held at Little Montreal on Elgin Street.

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to take photographs of the NOCA Provincial Wheelchair Curling Championships, which were held in Sudbury for the first time ever.

Saturday, Jan. 21, was a great day in the City of Greater Sudbury. The weather was relatively mild, which was nice, after having been subjected to a snow storm just days earlier, which unceremoniously dumped 10 cm of the white stuff in our area.

Last May, I attended the Nickel City Roller Derby's inaugural season-opener bout, when Sister Slag took on the Rideau Valley Girls, an established team from Ottawa.

Some of you will be happy to see that the winter weather and snow has arrived so you can get outside and enjoy your favourite activities. I used to dislike winter.

I am not what one would call a "Christmas person.” You know the types - they have their presents bought, carefully wrapped and sitting under their well-decorated tree by early December.
