Community Builders are inspiring

I am putting the finishing touches on writing profiles about this year's winners of the Community Builders Award of Excellence.

The awards dinner will be held Wednesday, Feb. 28 at the Radisson Hotel. This year is the fourth year of the awards program. The winners' stories are published in a special magazine distributed at the dinner. Northern Life plans on publishing all the stories in future issues of the newspaper as well.

Once again, I am impressed by the winners. They are good people doing good things for the community.

While some folks get involved with community organizations for promotion, personal or political gain, this year's winners serve the community because it is the right thing to do.

Several of the winners sacrificed time with their families and friends to put others first. Sometimes they didn't have time to take vacations or weekend holidays.

I am particularly impressed that individual winners are extremely humble about their accomplishments, and quickly informed me they could not have done what they did without the support of their spouses, their bosses or other volunteers.

The Community Builders Award event is a time to celebrate outstanding citizens and how lucky we are that they live here.

Tickets for the dinner are still available. Phone Tiana Di Pasquo at 673-5667, ext 351 for ticket information.
