I Was Just Wondering: Is this a double standard?

Finn wants to know why it’s OK for his ‘mom’ to get excited and cheer at televised hockey games, but if he gets too excited by an animal on the screen he gets shushed

Cheering. I believe I have witnessed a double standard from Mom.

Let me explain. Mom watches hockey. She is very enthusiastic about the game, and when the team she is cheering for scores a goal, well, the “WooWees!”, cheers and yells are loud and in abundance.

There is laughing, and at times, a happy dance. Do not misunderstand, I enjoy all this activity with Mom. She dances weird, but it’s a lot of fun and I would not want it any other way.

However, when I see fellow animals on TV in commercials or shows and I bark with joy, or protest about what I see, at first it’s acceptable, but when I continue just a little longer, I am “shushed.”

Mom shushes me!

So, I was just wondering, don’t you think this is a double standard?

P.S. I will let you know what happens after Mom reads this…

“I was just wondering” is a light new Sunday feature on Sudbury.com from Finn, a Brussels griffon breed of dog, and his “mom”, Jaana Pirnes. Come back next week to see what Finn is up to. Got a question for Finn? You can email him at [email protected].
