I, along with countless other people from across Canada are ready to go crazy.

I am in Renfrew currently preparing for my first day at the TELUS Cup.

I made it to Renfrew in four hours flat. I will be staying in the quaint town during the national AAA midget hockey championship, which is being held down the road in Arnprior.

It was smooth sailing down Highway. 17 and I didn't encounter any heavy traffic, which was a huge blessing, as I didn't have to wear out my lungs cursing at a slow pace. I can save my lungs for the tournament.

I did encounter a wonderful stench though in the Ottawa Valley.

It was a stifling 25 degrees outside as I drove through the Ottawa Valley region and the smell of cow manure hit me like a 18-wheeler loaded with the stuff.

It reminded me of spring down on the farm in St. Charles where I grew up.

It's funny, how sometimes, no matter how far you get away from "home", there's always something, somewhere that can bring back memories of where you grew up.

The city of Arnprior is buzzing, and it should be as they host the best AAA midget squads from across the country.

I am anticipating the first game for our local boys, the Sudbury Nickel Capital Wolves, when they take on the host Ottawa Valley Titans today at 8 p.m.

This is a big rematch for Sudbury as he Titans were the only club to beat them at the recent provincial championships.

The Titans scored a 5-3 victory during the round robin portion of the provincial event, but Sudbury enjoyed the last laugh as they went on to win gold.

Needless to say, the Nickel Capital Wolves must have a strong start to the national tournament to set the tone, and it must come against Ottawa Valley, the host team.

I expect the fans to be rabid, but a boatload of Sudbury fans has made the trip to cheer the boys on.

Enjoy the stories, pictures and video on NorthernLife.ca fans. It's going to be my pleasure bringing you all the action I can handle from Arnprior as the Nickel Capital Wolves gun for national glory.
