An enthusiastic two thumbs up to the Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie hockey players who are going to play in the two-game series for charity. All too often in today's hectic sports world, you hear that athlete's don't care or are just to caught up with other things to get involved with community events.

This isn't the case with the boys from our community and the Soo.

These guys play intense hockey, some at the highest professional level, for six months, and then for some, an additional two months in the playoffs.

They break bones, rip ligaments and get plenty of stitches.

Then, when they're not playing hockey in the off-season, they're hard at work in gyms staying in shape for the next season.

It takes a lot out of them.

Then they get some precious time for themselves to spend with friends and family.

The boys who are playing in the two games are a credit to our community. They don't have to play in charity games, let alone give their time to fans
in the off-season, but here they are smack dab in the middle of summer, on their vacations, taking the time out to help our whole community.

Guys like Andrew Brunette, Matt Pagnutti and Sean Blanchard show just what kind of people we actual have in this great town.

Hard working, and most important, they all share a genuine love for our community.

And by helping the Sudbury Regional Hospital Foundation, they are helping us all.

At some point and time, all of us will depend on the hospital in the future or know a friend or family member that will require the services it will offers.

It makes me proud to be born and raised and live in this community.

Speaking to Brunette, he didn't need any convincing at all, nor did any of the other guys who are going to lace up their skates for the two games.

Wow, I thought to myself.

All of Sudbury should be proud of these guys for stepping up and using their star power to raise money for the foundation.

Because when it's all said and done, one day, we will all be truly thankful, when we can get the medical attention we deserve, right here in our own town.

How nice is that.

Thank you to everyone involved in the games, especially Scott McCrory of Fury Hockey, for also stepping up and being a main sponsor for the games.

It's appreciated and we know it will make a difference in our community.

So get out there and buy your tickets at Bianco's, you won't regret it.
