Basketball legend Kobe Bryant and daughter killed in helicopter crash
Five passengers were killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California around 1 p.m. on Sunday, including basketball legend Kobe Bryant (41) and his daughter Gianna (13). According to a tweet by ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, Bryant was travelling with his daughter Gianna, another player and a parent at the time of the crash. Read the full story here.
Man who flew to Toronto from China is Canada's first coronavirus case
A man in his 50s who travelled to Toronto from China earlier this week has become the first Canadian case of the new coronavirus, health officials said Saturday as they urged calm in the face of an international outbreak. Dr. David Williams, Ontario's chief medical officer of health, said the case was considered "presumptive positive" until the National Microbiology Lab in Winnipeg finds the same positive results as the tests conducted in Toronto. Food Recall: Certain milk products found to contain sanitizer
Agropur Cooperative is recalling certain milk products from the marketplace due to the presence of sanitizer. Food contaminated with sanitizer residue may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of this product may cause symptoms such as nausea, upset stomach or vomiting. There has been one reported illness associated with the consumption of these products. Community gathers in support of Wet'suwet'en First Nation
On Sunday, Sudbury joined Indigenous and non-indigenous communities across the country in hosting an act of solidarity in support of Wet'suwet'en First Nation. Around 100 community members gathered at the Downtown Sudbury Courthouse to participate in the peaceful demonstration. Read the full story here.

Urban Air Adventure Park on Lasalle Boulevard in Sudbury has unveiled Canada's first indoor zipline ride — the Sky Rider — and our co-operative student Ryan was lucky enough to get a chance to test it out recently. Watch the video here.
New Cambrian program aimed at indigenous students seeking intro to post-secondary studies
After hearing from indigenous communities, Cambrian College has developed its one-year General Arts and Science-Indigenous Specialization certificate program. The program, being offered starting this September, is an introduction to college studies. Read the full story here.
Wolves claim game five over Soo
The Sudbury Wolves returned to Sudbury Arena on Saturday to host the Soo Greyhounds for game five of their six-game Bell Challenge Cup Series. Trailing 1-3 in the series, the odds were against the Wolves, but that wasn't going to slow the Pack down. They came out strong, lead by star centre Quinton Byfield with a hat trick, and claimed game five with a 5-2 final over their northern counterparts. Read the full game report here.
Battalion take their revenge against the Wolves
Sudbury Arena hosted another fierce matchup between the Wolves and Battalion Friday, less than 24 hours after Sudbury claimed their fourth victory against the team this season. The heavy-handed affair resulted in North Bay claiming their second victory in eight season matchups with a 4-2 final. During which, both teams racked up a total of 19 minutes in penalty time.
