Jobs of the Future: Building greener in the North

reThink Green hosted annual regional business forum on ‘Building the Future’ to feature experts from the housing and construction sectors

reThink Green will be fostering discussion on how to build a greener future through construction at its annual Regional Business forum on Nov. 23.

Hosted through the Green Economy North program of reThink Green, the ‘Building the Future’ event will focus on the greener building sector in Northeastern Ontario.

“reThink Green has put together an impressive group of industry experts to speak at this event and share their experiences and ideas in this context of low-carbon and eco-friendly building practices,” the group said in a news release.

Among the invited professional guests are Professor Steven Beites of the McEwen School of Architecture, Carly Gasparini from Community Buildings, and Scott Seidel representing the North American Solar Academy

The featured presentation will be conducted by Michael Cullen, the director of Community Partnerships at Habitat for Humanity Ontario: Gateway North, who will speak on housing affordability and sustainability.

“The concept of Affordable Housing must be revolutionized by changing the way homes are designed, built and financed as equal priorities for transformational change to take place,” Cullen said in the news release.

He will be joined for he presentation by Paul Girard from Polar Maxima and Domenic Idone from MetaLigna.

The forum will also include facilitated roundtable discussions. 

Following a breakfast, the Business Forum will be held between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Nov. 23 at the Northbury Hotel and Conference Centre. The deadline to purchase a ticket is Nov. 20.
