Bike thieves should be ashamed - A. Dugas

This letter is directed to the thief or thieves who stole two mountain bikes from our home in New Sudbury on the night of May 19, or early morning of May 20. One belonged to my 15 year old son, the other my 12 year old son.

This letter is directed to the thief or thieves who stole two mountain bikes from our home in New Sudbury on the night of May 19, or early morning of May 20.

One belonged to my 15 year old son, the other my 12 year old son. Although I feel bad for both boys that their bikes are gone, I am particularly hurting for my youngest.

About a year and a half ago (at barely 11 years old) he had his eye on a yellow KHS FXT Trail mountain bike worth close to $600. He delivers papers and set his mind to saving up all his paper route money, for as long as it took, to buy this particular bike. He put a down payment on the bike so the business would keep it for him, and every few weeks he would go in and make a payment towards this special bike.

He told everyone he knew how excited he was about getting this bike, and how he had set a goal and would make deposits on the bike until it was his.
I never thought he'd be able to keep the money in the bank long enough.

After delivering hundreds of papers, and making many excited payments, the day came that he could finally bring the bike home. I don't know if I have ever seen him as ecstatic and proud as that day! And he pampered that bike - always washing it, polishing it, cleaning it, locking it, and basically riding it everywhere he went.

He was so proud to think he had bought it with his own money! Unfortunately, you have taken all that away from him by stealing his bike; his pride and joy he worked so hard for at such a young age.

You have no idea how devastated he is, or how many times he cries and lies on his bed wondering what happened to his bike and if he'll ever see it
again. He even spent extra money afterwards to purchase expensive stickers to make it even more his own! You have no idea what you have done, and not just in committing a criminal offence.

I am confident that with help from people of Sudbury, we will find you and hopefully the bikes (in one piece).

We ask anyone in Sudbury to watch for a yellow FXT Trail mountain bike, and a Red Norco Screamer.

There are not too many of them in town, and we've been told the KHS is likely the only one in Sudbury.

If someone wants to sell you either of these types of bikes, or pieces from them, please take their name and phone number and call us.

If you provide information that helps us find these bikes, there will be a good financial reward offered and we will keep your name confidential. Please call 688-8307 and leave your name and number.

Thank you in advance for helping us find the bikes and/or the people who have caused so much hurt to these boys.
