The current episode concerning the group home, planned for the Gatchel area, is another example of why the present ward system in Greater Sudbury does not work and does not serve the taxpayers of this community.

The two councillors repesenting the area, swear they knew nothing of the project, even though it has been in the planning stage for some time. A meeting to inform the public was called after the building was purchased and renovated.

It is time to examine the present ward system.

Twelve wards would offer better and fairer representation to the citizens of this community.

City councillors should live in the neighbourhood, where they know the people and their cultures-not eight or 10 miles away.
