The current episode concerning the group
home, planned for the Gatchel area, is another example of why
the present ward system in Greater Sudbury does not work and
does not serve the taxpayers of this community.
The two councillors repesenting the area,
swear they knew nothing of the project, even though it has been
in the planning stage for some time. A meeting to inform the
public was called after the building was purchased and
renovated.
It is time to examine the present ward
system.
Twelve wards would offer better and fairer
representation to the citizens of this community.
City councillors should live in the
neighbourhood, where they know the people and their
cultures-not eight or 10 miles away.
