Congratulations to Sudbury's Northern Centre
for Advanced Technology (NORCAT), for 10 years of bringing
Northern Ontario innovation to the world stage and
beyond.
Since 1995, through the operation of its
world-class underground training facility, NORCAT has
researched and tested new technologies that are assisting small
and medium-sized enterprises to adapt and flourish in the
global marketplace. A recent partnership with the Canadian
Space Agency
resulted in the development of a specialized
mining drill to be used for space exploration.
Through the continued support of FedNor,
which has invested over $1.5 million in the centre, NORCAT has
assisted in the creation of hundreds of technology oriented
jobs and the launch of many new companies. This translates into
millions of dollars in additional revenue for the North's
economy.
Here's to another decade of NORCAT developing
and commercializing Northern Ontario innovation and technology
to the rest of the world, indeed the universe.
