Follow-up story required - Lisa Coleman-Brown

Thank you for your March 8 article on the Joanne Nother tragedy. I sincerely hope the newspaper will be able to do a follow-up story when the investigation by fire marshals is completed.

Why can't you name the wheelchair brand since the law suits are of public record? My sister-in-law Sandra Carpenter is disabled and is a program co-ordinator with the Centre for Independent Living in Toronto and I was speaking with her by phone this evening. She mentioned this tragedy which shocked me as I had missed the news of Nother's death and I once was an attendant for her. My husband is an amputee who also uses a motorized wheelchair - obviously the whole community is horrified and we look forward to any follow-up articles you will be able to write.

Editor's note: Northern Life is waiting for the fire marshal's report regarding cause of death before identifying the name of the manufacturer of the deceased woman's wheelchair.
