The Lansdowne Public School Council hosted a Family Fun Night and Barbecue on May 30 to celebrate the end of the year and to promote safe walking and biking in our community — one of our council’s goals.
This free event was planned for our students and their families to socialize and have fun, share a meal and learn something new. This kind of event helps families build connections with the school and other families, so they can support their child’s success in school.
We could not have done this without the generous contributions of many. We would like to recognize the following organizations, businesses and people, who made our event possible:
- The Kinsmen Club of Sudbury who provided, cooked and served a delicious barbecue dinner for more than 200 people.
- Rainbow Routes, who came and taught bike safety to our kids with their bike rodeo, and donated bike helmets to distribute to children who needed them.
- Members of the Sudbury Cyclists Union, who came to provide free bike safety tune-ups for our kids.
- Denise Belanger, who donated her time and talents and provided a fun family Zumba session.
- Sudbury Kartways, who donated go-carting and mini-golf passes for our family draws.
- Sudbury and District Health Unit, who provided education for kids and parents about active living and healthy eating.
- And last, but definitely not least, the dedicated teachers, staff and parent volunteers of Lansdowne School that planned and staffed the event.
On behalf of the school council and families of Lansdowne School, a very heartfelt thank you.
