I am pleased to see the minister of Health
has been working hard to resolve our current doctor shortage
Increasing the quota system for medical students and increasing
the money for province's medical schools will definitely help
but there is much more that should be done.
I am puzzled as to why nurse practitioners
have not been utilized more than they have. They are well
trained and should be a patient's first stop before
seeing a physician.
Perhaps as concerned citizens, we should be
lobbying the government to utilize nurse practitioners. Why
should they spend years in training and then
have no job at the end?
