I read Viki Mather's article headlined,
Up on the rooftop. It disturbed me greatly. Shovelling snow
from a rooftop is a potentially dangerous practice and
shuoldn't be referred to in such a nonchalant manner.
While I recognize Mather's passion for
the task as evidenced by her vivid description, I take
exception to her casual reference to its perceived
safety.
My father had a friend who died of a massive
head injury sustained after falling from the roof of his home.
His friend had been shoveling snow from the roof.
Let's recognize the dangers of shovelling
snow from the rooftop and advise the public accordingly.
I'm sure any emergency room physician or
nurse could speak of the evils of shovelling snow from
rooftops.
Let's all exercise caution, or at the
very least hire a bonded professional to do the job for
us.
