Walking on Sunnyside not so sunny - Frank Petkovich

Spring is upon us and so is the legacy of the winter season. A walk along Sunnyside Road on Long Lake is indeed a pleasant activity. It would be more pleasant if the speed demons would slow down and not threaten life or limb.

At anytime of the year one has to be acutely aware of two hazards. First you must keep your head up to make sure the speed demons don't wipe you out. Secondly, you must keep your head down to avoid stepping on the amassed dog doo-doo of the winter.

It's reprehensible dog walkers do not pick up after their pets. Perhaps if some were fined to the full extent of the law, more responsibility in this regard would be assumed.

I can't understand is why anyone having a home on Long Lake would not pick up after their dog. The feces eventually wash into the lake from where most of residents obtain their water. Condemnation of Long Lake would significantly reduce their property values and make life in this area intolerable. I am sure we could all do better.
