A feeling of excitement excitement was felt at Theatre Cambrian last week during a rehearsal for Kids’ Curtain’s production of Aladdin, Jr.

Theatre Cambrian’s seamstresses were busily sewing, putting the final stitches into costumes; director Mark Mannisto checked off his list of what was still needed for the show; and the children sang and danced as they rehearsed a number.

“We’re getting ready to give someone a gift,” explained David Browne, in his first major production with Theatre Cambrian. “It’s the gift of fun. We want to make it perfect for the audience.”

Fun is what the audience of Kids’ Curtain’s Aladdin, Jr. can expect in this stage adaptation of the popular Disney movie. With familiar characters such as Aladdin, Jasmine, the Genie, a flying carpet, and an expressive monkey, Aladdin, Jr. is a show sure to please audiences of all ages.

As the magic of the holiday season begins to grow, the cast of Aladdin, Jr. can’t wait to enchant the audience with their performances.

“There are lots of different tricks, and it will be exciting to watch,” said Regan Horner, who plays a narrator in the show.

“It makes me feel tingly and excited! There’s magic in this show!”

At a time of year when many children are thinking of what they want for Christmas, the Kids’ Curtain cast of Aladdin, Jr. has been working selflessly to give audiences a performance to remember.

“We want them to feel like they came here and laughed,” said Abby Lacelle, who plays the Genie.

When asked if she had three wishes, what would they be, Lacelle didn’t have to think long.

“First, I’d wish for world peace. Then I’d wish for us to do a great job on the show, and then a shopping spree.”
