Siblings Niklaus, 2, and Sophia, 4, are having a good time in a Greater Sudbury Fire Services pumper at the Anderson Farm Museum Fall Fair in September 2023. The kids were at the event with their mother, Stephanie Winter.

The Anderson Farm Museum Heritage Society is looking for five new board members as well as other volunteers to help plan and execute its 2024 events.

Among the tasks that would fall to board members:

a. Work with the Ward 2 Councillor, CGS Staff and GS Heritage Museums Curator to help preserve and protect; expand and develop the Anderson Farm Museum as a vital CGS Heritage Site for future generations.

b. Co-ordinate and host three free annual events at AFM: Rock the Farm, Fall Fair and Christmas Tree-Lighting Celebration — which will involve hundreds of volunteer hours — and which attract thousands of people of all ages, from CGS, West Nipissing and out of town.

c. Expand and update social media and develop PR Tools

d. Prepare grant applications

e. Plan and co-ordinate special, small capital projects at AFM

“The Anderson Farm Museum has long been a cornerstone of our community in Lively,” said Eric Benoit, president of the AFMHS.

“The events the AFM Heritage Society hosts on the grounds bring the community together and provide social entertainment for people of all ages. But these events take a dedicated group of volunteers to make them happen. We need new volunteers to continue to host these free events so please join us and help keep this very important part of our community going.”

The board also needs new volunteers to work with the board throughout 2024 as part of its three annual event committees.

New committee volunteers with extra time, skills, enthusiasm and and an interest in working with co-chairs are needed to:

a. Organize, co-ordinate and host the three free Annual Events at AFM, which will involve many volunteer hours before, during and after these events

b. Work with the art/craft/business community and snack food vendors.

c. Assist our community partners – who provide free activities, displays and demonstrations for the public at our annual events

d. Help with setting-up and taking-down the site- either the centre court area or the 14 acre site

e. Assist with on-site traffic control before, during and after the events

Interested individuals are asked to contact AFMHS president Eric Benoit at  [email protected].
