Look no further than the picturesque shores of Sudbury's own Lake Ramsey for a unique outdoor art event featuring local aspiring artists and musicians.

On July 26, Northern Initiative for Social Action will host Art in the Park, the first annual multi-media event at the Katherine Gazebo in Bell Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The alternate rain date is Aug. 9. NISA program co-ordinator Lisa Morris explained that the event is open to Artist's Loft participants as well as local artists from all walks of life.

Original artwork will be showcased, including: watercolours, photography, multi-media, murals, sketches, carvings, stained glass, and jewelry.

The Artist's Loft facilitates the expression of the experience of living with mental illness. It provides the opportunity for artists to participate in the fine arts, develop skills and to exhibit their work. NISA aims to educate society through its art exhibitions within the community, ones such as Art in the Park.

Some of the artists presenting are: Katherine Tovey-Fisher, Fern Habel, Barbara Armstrong-Quinn, Fay Reid, Irvin E. Marshall, Krista Tovey, Meredith McMaster, Mary Anne Secord, and Jim Cook.

The event is sponsored by Northridge Savings and Credit Union, and Innovative Guitar Ideas. The acoustic sounds of area musicians will add to the enjoyment of all. Featured will be Ryan Harris, Adam Aitken, Shawn Pepin, Chris Johnston, Lori Parody and Jesse Legace.

For more information about this event, contact Lisa Morris at 675-9193 ext. 8209 or visit www.nisa.on.ca .
