Arts North, Sudbury's newest fine arts studio initiative, is located at 7 Cedar St., suite 203 downtown.
The studio is offering free demo classes Jan. 28 and 29 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. These introductory classes include: hip hop, ballet, musical theatre, modern dance, first steps and jazz.
Founder and artistic director Ashley Burton describes some of the other programs offered at her Arts North studio. The family ties group integrates both parent and child to explore creative movement.
Corporate crunch classes focus on abdominal strengthening and toning through dance inspired movements. Early bird cardio dance is a high-energy, calorie-burning dance class. Dance fusion will fuse a combination of spicy dance genres such as Latin, jazz and modern dance.
"The unique aspect of Arts North is that we are offering a variety of arts-based classes ranging from dance, drama, music and visual arts for both youth and adults. We will also be offering pilates classes," says Burton.
A graduate of York University, Burton majored in dance and holds bachelor degrees in both education and fine arts. Her present interests focus on teaching, choreography and production.
As founder and artistic director of Arts North, she is currently working as a dance consultant and arts liaison in northern Ontario. Her goal is to bring the arts North with a find arts training centre encompassing culture and creativity.
