Sudbury's experimental progressive electro-rock band, Konflit Dramatik, will be releasing their fourth studio album on Sept. 29 at the Towne House with new music, new sound and a new addition to the lineup.
For nearly 10 years, the four-piece band has been evolving by blending French and English lyrics into their music and earning themselves a reputation as a band that knows no musical limitations.
Much like the 90s band, Mr. Bungle, whose music mixed the sounds of metal and ska with punk and rap, made it difficult to categorize it into one genre. However, for those who aren't familiar with Mr. Bungle's sound, a close example of the bands' alternating style could be seen in Red Hot Chili Peppers.
It's that kind of versatility that makes Konflit Dramatik's music different from what is heard on the radio.
Considering themselves to be an experimental progressive electro rock band, Konflit Dramtik was conceived in Sudbury in 1997, with Christian Berthiaume, singer and keyboardist, getting together with friends and forming the band.
Beginning as more of a rap and provocative hip hop group, the band soon found its niche mutating their music with each song.
In 2003, the band won best Francophone recording for their second CD, Univers Dissimule, and in 2006, Berthiaume won best songwriting for the song, Hierarchie Horizontal, which is featured on the Morgue EP (extended play) album.
