The Bay Street Film Festival is now open for submissions through www.withoutabox.com . The regular submission deadline is April 30 and the late deadline is May 26.

Submit films, or inform festival organizers of any other potential candidates. If the festival receives the Ontario Arts Council (OAC) festival grant for a third year, it will offer screening fees to filmmakers and help them with travel costs, stated a news release.

Last year's festival screened over 40 films, hosted 20 out-of-town filmmakers and had a record turnout, according to the release. It raised $3,400 for the Finnish Building Heritage Fund.

Organizers are hoping this year's festival will be a bigger success than last year and, thanks to another grant to Flash Frame, from the OAC, the festival has hired two part-time employees to help manage the event.

Deanna Ford has been hired to manage advertising, sponsorship and publicity and Leah Williams-Zannis has been hired to manage submissions, judging and other Flash Frame projects.
