This Saturday evening at 7:30 pm Bravo (Channel 51) will present Francis Poulenc's three act opera, Dialogue of the Carmelites.

Based on Georges Bernanos' play, the opera follows nuns in a Carmelite convent in Compiégne during the French Revolution.

Blanche de la Force, daughter of Marquis de la Force, is admitted as a Carmelite novice and soon finds herself and the other nuns in danger at the hands of the revolutionaries. The nuns vote for martyrdom and Blanche returns home to find her father executed and her home looted. She soon rejoins the nuns and perishes with her Carmelite sisters.

Next Saturday, Bravo will present Three Superstars in Berlin at 8:30 pm. Plácido Domingo joins operatic sensations Anna Netrebko and Rolando Villazón in concert accompanied by the orchestra of the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

On Nov. 10 Bravo will present a documentary about the building of the new opera centre in Toronto.
