Cancer has hit the Day family quite hard this year. Bill's
sister Betty Daoust and a brothers-in law Lindsay Barter and
Bob Plant have recently passed away.
Some of the company's drivers have had spouses diagnosed this
year and, so Bill Day of Day Group and operational controller
Kevin Eady have decided to become one of the many sponsors at
this year's gala Fantasy Ball.
With so many key companies backing this year's event, it really
was a "no-brainer" to become part of the energy, says CVRD
Inco's public affairs specialist Angie Robson.
It really is all about being in the community in good and bad
times and so becoming a sponsor was a natural fit, she says.
The proceeds will go toward the Northern Ontario Families of
Children with Cancer where the money will be kept locally with
very little administration fees.
The Fantasy Ball is an evening of "make believe" courtesy of
Steve Chapman, owner of Studio Flowers. He will be creating an
imaginary boat cruise with guests boarding the S.S. Idylwlde
with their ticket passports in hand. The wine and cocktail bar
are compliments of Rastall Nut & Bolt, Northern Uniform and
Lewis Cleaners. A silent auction, and a night filled with
dinner and dance will be under the roof of the Idylwylde Golf
and Country Club Oct. 20th.
The goal is to raise $50,000 for this good cause.
Other sponsors include CVRD Inco, Xstrata Nickel, Scotiabank,
Mining Technologies International, CIBC, Atlas Copco,
Laurentian Publishing, Laking Toyota/Northern Nissan, Carmen
Talarico, Royal Bank, Laamanen Construction Ltd., Wallbridge
Mining Company Ltd., Dundee Wealth Management, Jan Oystrick
