The Laurentian University Pipe Band and dancers will host its third annual Robbie Burns night and dinner on Sunday, Jan. 25 at Bryston's on the Park in Copper Cliff.

The celebration is in honour of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Burns, a famed Scottish poet.

Guests will enjoy a traditional roast beef and haggis dinner served with scotch broth and dessert.

Dr. Brian Aitken, chair of the Religious Studies program at Huntington University, will deliver the Immortal Memory to Burns, and Dr. Roger Nash, director of
Laurentian University's Humanities MA program, will recite some of Burns' most famous poems.

There will also be musical performances by Andrew Lowe, Nora O'Neill and
the Laurentian University Pipe Band and dancers.

New this year is a scotch-tasting event, which will begin at 4 p.m. The formal dinner program will begin at 5:30 p.m., with the address and toast to the haggis recited by Alison Perry.

Tickets for Burns on the Park are $50 each and can be purchased by calling 691-5677 or e-mail [email protected] .

Proceeds from this event will support the Laurentian University Pipe Band Trust Fund established through Laurentian University.
