Cinéfest Sudbury has revaled the addition of three highly anticipated film titles to its 2023 Special Presentation lineup, including:
Frybread Face and Me [Billy Luther, USA, 2023]
Two adolescent Navajo cousins from different worlds bond during a summer herding sheep on their grandmother's ranch in Arizona while learning more about their family's past and themselves. Frybread Face and Me is executive produced by Taika Waititi, director of the Academy Award-winning film Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok.
La passion de Dodin Bouffant (The Pot au Feu) [Anh Hung Tran, France, 2023]
France, 1885. The talented cook Eugénie has worked for the preeminent gourmet Dodin for the last two decades. Their mutual admiration turns into a romance and gives rise to dishes that confound even the world’s most illustrious chefs. But Eugénie is fond of her freedom and has never wanted to marry Dodin, so he decides to do something he has never done before: cook for her. La passion de Dodin Bouffant stars Academy Award-winning actress Juliette Binoche and won Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year.
The Royal Hotel [Kitty Green, Australia/UK, 2023]
US backpackers Hanna and Liv take a job in a remote Australian pub for some extra cash and are confronted with a bunch of unruly locals and a situation that grows rapidly out of their control. The Royal Hotel stars three-time Primetime Emmy-winning actress Julia Garner who previously worked with director Kitty Green in 2019’s The Assistant.
