Cinefest Sudbury announces 2007 award winners

The award winners of the 2007 Cinefest Sudbury festival were announced on Sept. 23 by festival director Tammy Frick. The award of $5,000 for the best Canadian feature film went to Shake hands with the devil, director Roger Spottiswoode.

The award of $1,000 for the best Canadian first feature went to Amal, director Richie Mehta.

Videomaker's competition award winners included:

Open Category
- First place: $5,000 to Better knowing Stanley.
- Second place: $2,500 to Asphodel Meadows.
- Third place: $1,000 to Mor-fan-ominal

Student Category
- First place: $1,000 to Asphodel Meadows
- Second place: $500 to Applesauce

The Community Pulse Award of two Cinefest Sudbury 2008 industry passes went to Norseman.
