City abounds with Christmas concerts

'Tis the season, and Christmas concerts are popping up all over Greater Sudbury. No Strings Attached Community Band, under the direction of Sandra McMillan, will hold their annual Christmas concert Thursday, Dec. 10, 7:30 p.m.

'Tis the season, and Christmas concerts are popping up all over Greater Sudbury.

No Strings Attached Community Band, under the direction of Sandra McMillan, will hold their annual Christmas concert Thursday, Dec. 10, 7:30 p.m., in the amphitheatre of Cambrian College, room 2226.

“We will gratefully be accepting your voluntary donations at the door, in support of the Sudbury Elgin Street Soup Kitchen,” Chip Morel, spokesperson for the group, said.

“Bring the whole family and support a great cause while being entertained to traditional Chirstmas music as well as other selections,” he added. For more information visit www.nostringsattachedband.org.

Nickel City Sound, the city's female barbershop quartet, perform in the foyer of Dumas' Your Independent Grocers on Lorne St., Saturday, Dec. 12 from 10 a.m. to noon. They also sing holiday harmonies Thursday, Dec. 17 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

The Adriadne Women's Chamber Choir of Sudbury performs Sunday, Dec. 13, 4 p.m. at the Church of the Epiphany, 85 Larch St. Accompanying the choir, directed by David Buley, will be the Northern Brass Quartet and the Silver Birch Quartet.

“Patrons will be able to revel in the splendid music of Michael Praetorius, Heinrich Schultz and Felix Mendelssohn as well as Canadian composers Healey Willan, John Burge and Christine Donkin,” David Buley said.

The Mistletones, the a cappella quartet of Leslie King, Alex Baran, Jan Buley and David Buley present a Christmas Benefit concert Dec. 20, 4 p.m. at L'Eglise Sainte-Anne des Pins, 14 Beech St. The event is a fundraiser for Better Beginnings Better Futures, a non-profit community based service organization.
