An innovative partnership between Coop Boréal and Eat Local Sudbury Co-operative Inc. was announced inside the newly renovated cafeteria at College Boréal on Sept. 15.

This is the first francophone student co-operative outside of Quebec. Coop Boréal has over 5,000 members, providing services including catering, cafeteria and the bookstore, providing an economic benefit to the community.

The cafeteria now provides produce, products and supplies purchased locally. The cafeteria is furnished with the latest equipment and menus are posted and updated regularly on five LCD screens.

Daily meals are made with locally grown food. The college is “going green” by gradually replacing dinnerware with recyclable or compostable materials. From left are Denis Hubert, president of College Boréal and Mayor John Rodriguez.
