The Social Planning Council of Sudbury will host the 8th
Annual Stone Soup Luncheon Thursday, April 10 at the
Steelworkers Hall from noon to 1 pm .
"Once again, the Catholic Charities Soup Kitchen will prepare
great home-made soup from stock and vegetables, all of which
have been donated by local business owners," said Janet
Gasparini, Executive Director SPCS
"A special thanks to the United Steelworkers of  America
Local 6500 for graciously offering their space at a reduced
cost and to all of our sponsors for their generous
contributions".
For the past seven years the luncheon has been a success. To
date, the event has raised close to $70,000 for the Community
Emergency Fund.
The Community Emergency Fund (CEF) is a fund of last resort.
When individuals in the community have nowhere else to turn,
The Emergency Fund is there to help. For example, The CEF is
utilized in situations where the heat is going to be turned
off, an eviction notice has been given, or a family with young
children has exhausted their food bank allowance.
With continuous support from the members of the community and
events such as the Stone Soup Luncheon, the SPCS is able to
raise funds to help assist those less fortunate and help make a
difference in their lives.
Tickets for the luncheon are $20 per person with all of the
proceeds to benefit CEF. The goal is to raise $10,000 this
year. For more information, phone 675-3894 or email
