Every November, Greater Sudbury residents look forward to the visit from the CP Holiday Train. People congregate to see the beautifully lit train, listen to a concert and donate to the food bank.
In honour of the country's 150th birthday, the railroad is hosting a similar cross-country event this summer, but without the need for snowsuits, winter boots and scarves.
The CP Canada 150 Train will be rocking the nation this summer with a cross-country block party featuring concerts at each stop by Juno award-winning country music singer Dean Brody and champion Aboriginal hoop dancer, Dallas Arcand.
Beginning July 28 in Port Moody, B.C., CP is hosting celebrations in 13 Canadian cities and towns.
One of the stops will be at the CP train station on Elgin Street from 5-8 p.m. August 8.
The train will travel west to east, completing a reverse tour of the very first transcontinental passenger train trip made on June 28, 1886, which started in Montreal and travelled to Port Moody.
