Phyllis Wheaton is a Calgary based singer/songwriter who was born and raised in Sudbury. Her newly released CD entitled In Harms Way includes a sixteen-page booklet, which is as vivid as her music.

The album is what Wheaton calls a legacy project, where the music tells the story and the descriptive booklet leads one on toward acts of peace. She says the album is a tribute to our soldiers (past and present) and honours the Moms and Dads, spouses and families who have inspired her with their belief in their soldier.

In light of our armed forces involvement in Afghanistan, Wheaton has produced a fine musical tribute to the Canadian soldier and to the people of Afghanistan.

         Listen to Wheaton's music.

Her blues styled Somedays showcases her songwriting ability with the superb instrumental backing by Jeff Muller on guitar and bass, and Mario Siciliano on drums.

This album is a tribute album to Canada's men and women in uniform and as such has a patriotic appeal in light of the almost weekly casualty headlines from the current war front.

In Harms Way is a very heartfelt and emotional CD that is topical with well-written lyrics and very competent musical backup.

In Harms Way - Soldiers' Songs: In Harms Way; Somedays; Our Blue Berets; My Son, Our Sons; The Izzy Doll; White Cliffs Medley; There was No Battle Here; My Dear Mae; Tillymaud; Dannys Gone; This Little Light of Mine.

The CD gets a rating of three stars out of five.
