City residents can enjoy a leisurely stroll and the bright autumn colours this Thanksgiving Monday, Oct. 12.

The 25th Annual Oak Forest Lookout Park Fall Colour Walk takes place this weekend, and will provide city residents with a chance to escape the daily rush and enjoy the nature available within the city itself. The walk begins 2 p.m.

“It begins at the parking lot at Minnow Lake Place and follows the Rainbow Routes Trail up into the oak forest behind Minnow Lake to scenic lookouts over Minnow Lake and Lake Ramsey,” explained event organizer, John Lindsay.

The area is easy to travel to either by car or by city transit.

The walkers will be guided by members of the Minnow Lake Restoration Group and Minnow Lake Community Action Network.

“Rubber-soled shoes are recommended,” said Lindsay.

The walk will not take place if it is raining as some rocky areas on the trail can be slippery in the rain, he noted.

“Cameras and binoculars are recommended to record and take in the sights along the way. Dogs on a leash are welcome.”
