The annual Sudbury Charities Foundation Festival of Lights is set to light up the night sky at Science North for this year's holiday season, after weeks of hard work by volunteers.

The lights will turn on for the first time this season on Nov. 26 at 6 p.m.

The annual tradition is one of three major fundraising events hosted by Sudbury Charities Foundation, which has existed for over 40 years. The charities help children.

Between 6 and 7 p.m., free hot chocolate will be available to visitors, who can take the time to tour the grounds and admire the more than 300 festive light displays.

Admission is free, but donations to the Sudbury Charities Foundation are appreciated.

The Festival of Lights will continue until the Ukrainian Christmas on Jan. 7, 2010, Sundays through Thursdays between 5 and 11 p.m.

The lights are on for longer hours on Fridays, Saturdays, and Dec. 24, 25, 31 between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m.
