Eerie alleys and old buildings around Greater Sudbury set the stage for Feud, an action film showcasing two brothers’ fights to overcome their personal demons and find love.

Producer Steve Gagne said the entire movie will be filmed in Sudbury, using local people on both sides of the camera. Greg Tremblay from M-plicit Productions is directing the film.

Gagne said he hopes to premiere the short film at Cinéfest. After premiering the film, Gagne said he hopes the full-length script can be put to use.

“We hope someone can pick it up, and invest (in it) as a full feature film.”

Besides working on the film, Gagne also runs Impact Martial Arts Academy, a martial arts school, and High-Impact Thrills (HIT) Action Team, a stunt company, in Sudbury.

Many actors in the film have been trained by Gagne, and are part of the HIT Action Team.

However, Gagne said he isn’t making a “story-less action film.” If anything, action is used to “enhance (the) story.”
He said people will be able to relate to the film, since it deals with struggles real people face. “Everyone fights with something. It’s a very realistic film.”

The film chronicles two brothers who lost their mother during the younger brother’s birth, and their father when they were both still young.

The lack of love they received growing up challenged both brothers later in life. The older boy, Eric, spent years searching for inner peace, while Nicholas, chose to ignore their pasts and came back to haunt Eric.

Gagne said he modeled the father-figure in the story around his own role model, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Growing up, Gagne said he admired Van Damme, and was inspired by him. “It’s always been a dream to be an action star,” Gagne said.

Gagne has been involved with martial arts since he was seven years old, and has experience in choreography, and live performances. Putting together a film was the next logical step.

The production of Feud is expected to wrap up at the end of June.
