Free family fun day Saturday

To kick off the annual Week of the Child festivities, which will be celebrated from Oct. 13-20, there will be a free family fun day on Saturday, from 10 am to 3 pm, held at various locations in downtown Sudbury.

To kick off the annual Week of the Child festivities, which will be celebrated from Oct. 13-20, there will be a free family fun day on Saturday, from 10 am to 3 pm, held at various locations in downtown Sudbury.

The local Week of the Child committee is made up of representatives from many community agencies serving children in Greater Sudbury who are committed to children to celebrating children and promoting the well-being of children and families in our community.

Events on Saturday include:

Memorial Park
10 to 11:30 am: Face painting, stroller and wagon decorating
10 am: Teddy Bears in the Park  - bring your teddy for fun in the park, storytime, games and snacks
10:30 am: Parachute games with Our Children Our Future
10:30 am: Register for the Quintessence Breastfeeding Challenge
11:00 am: Fun warm-up exercises to prepare for parade
11:15 am: Get ready for the parade!
 
Children's walking parade
- Join the Blue Saints Drum and Bugle Corps at Memorial Park at 11:30 am. The parade leaves at 11:45 am.
- Arrive at Market Square in time for the opening ceremonies.
- Dress up in your favourite costume or come yourself!
 
Market Square Activities
noon: Parade arrives - opening ceremonies
noon - 2 pm: Buzzy Browns free lunch for all kids
noon - 3 pm: Horse drawn wagon rides through downtown
noon - 3 pm: Fun displays and activities by local agencies
12:30 pm - 3 pm: Entertainment at the Storytelling Tent and on the main stage for all ages
3 pm: Free movie at Rainbow Cinemas (tickets will be available at Market Square - sun tent)
