Leila, a Greater Sudbury-based music group consisting of students and former students from École secondaire Macdonald-Cartier, won four of six prizes handed out at the Ontario Pop awards.
Some of Leila's awards were for best group and best song. Thanks to their success at the Ontario Pop competition, they will go on to represent the province at the largest Canadian francophone music contest, the Grandby International Music Festival.
Members of Leila include Leila Reguigui, Chelsey Rooney, Élyse Champaigne-Klassen, Gabriel Grenier, Justin Racine and Dan Veilleux.
Sarah Bradley, also a graduate of Macdonald-Cartier, won an award for song creativity and originality. She will have the opportunity to record her winning song at CBC studios in Ottawa.
