At this time, there are approximately 30 soldiers in Afghanistan from the Sudbury area with parents, family and friends who live here.

"Several of our members loved ones are due to return within three months," said Denise Lecuyer, facilitator, Military Family Support Group Sudbury and area, in a release.

At a Christmas gathering, the Sudbury Rotary Club President Steve Irwin presented 22 families with a basket to show support to the families for what they sacrifice during their soldier's mission in Afghanistan.

Also, the Honourary Colonel John Goudreau presented the group with a donation from the Ladies Afternoon Curling League in Copper Cliff.

The group said they appreciated both gestures of support.

The Military Family Support Group Sudbury and area meets every third Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at the Armories at 333 Riverside Dr. Anyone who is interested is asked to phone 983-0708.
