Repurpose those useless VHS tapes (and Betamax too, if you have true taste) into something useful

June 7 is National VCR Day. What VHS tape did you wear out when you were younger? (Heather Green-Oliver/Sudbury.com)

To celebrate National VCR Day, here are some clever ways you can repurpose the stacks of dusty VHS tapes that are taking up valuable shelf space.

1. Clock

No need to rewind these repurposed VHS cassettes.

2. Purse

Use your old VHS cases to make beautiful clutches.

3. Make a bracelet or tie a bow!

Stretched VHS tape makes excellent yarn or ribbon. Use it to create macramé or wrap a gift.

4. Retro pencil case

Choose your VHS tapes carefully. Pick a classic or a clever title to get the best reaction from your classmates.

5. Yarn Dispenser

Turn any VHS cassette into a nifty two colour yarn dispenser.

6. Secret hiding place

Hollow out a stack of VCR tapes to stash your precious belongings.
