Blues fans were rocking and dancing Saturday evening at Shaughnessy's Pub downtown on Shaughnessy Street, said Tommy Fyfe.

He is lead guitarist with the Whiskey River Blues Band, which accompanied the Juno award winning musician.

“Jack is a special musician who very much enjoys playing here with us...and a full house of Sudburians were treated to a marvelous evening of great entertainment,” Fyfe noted.

For his part, De Keyzer called the concert “an awesome experience”, as he rested a minute in between songs.

David McCullough said he was impressed Sudbury could put on such as good show with a big name Toronto based musician for a reasonable cost.

“People who think this city can't ever have a music scene comparable to Toronto are mistaken,” McCullough noted as he watched the band perform. The Toronto municipal worker is considering returning permanently to his home town of Sudbury if he can find work here.

De Keyzer will return to Greater Sudbury to the Roc N Blues Dance at the Caruso Club on Haig Street Friday, Jan. 29th, at 9 p.m. For tickets, call Helen Gerner, Sudbury Event Planner, at 561-1931. Tickets for this event are $25 in advance and $30 at the door.
