Theatre Cambrian has announced audition dates for its final main-stage musical production of the 2008-2009 season.
"We are holding auditions for the family-favourite Andrew Lloyd Webber blockbuster Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," said Mark Mannisto, executive director of Theatre Cambrian.
Auditions will be held Jan. 7 from 6 - 9 p.m., Jan. 10 from 1 - 5 p.m., Jan. 11 from 1 - 5 pm,, Jan.  14 from 6 - 9 p.m., and Jan. 18 from 1 - 5 p.m. Theatre Cambrian's artistic director, Jamie J. Bourget, is searching for men, women and children of all ages for this production.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, the Biblical saga of Joseph and his coat of many colours, comes to life in this musical parable. Joseph is a boy blessed with prophetic dreams and is his father's favourite son.
When he is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, Joseph endures a series of adventures in which his spirit and humanity are continually challenged.
He is purchased by Potiphar and advances by Potiphar's
wife land him in jail. When news of Joseph's gift to
interpret dreams reaches the pharaoh, Joseph is well on his way
to becoming second-in-command of Egypt.
 
Eventually his brothers, having suffered greatly, unknowingly
find themselves groveling at the feet of the brother they
betrayed but no longer recognize. After testing their
integrity, Joseph reveals himself, leading to a reconciliation
of the sons of Israel.
Set to a cornucopia of musical styles, from country-western and calypso to bubble-gum pop and rock 'n roll, this Old Testament tale emerges both timely and timeless.
