Le Carrefour francophone is opening a French immersion
daycare, which includes infant care facilities, at Valley View
Public School  and a francophone daycare at École publique
Hélène-Gravel.
Le Carrefour francophone will operate six francophone daycares
and two French immersion daycares in 2008.
Valley View Public School is presently under construction. A
large daycare in the school in planned. As well as providing
spaces for toddlers and preschoolers, special facilities for
infant care have also been planned.
"We are extremely excited to be able to offer services for
infants at the French immersion daycare. Licensed infant care
facilities are much needed in the community. These children
will be able to be in a French immersion environment from a
very young age, which will make learning the language even
easier," said Lyn Lebeau, executive director of Le Carrefour
francophone.
Le Carrefour francophone already manages daycares in five
elementary schools in the Conseil scolaire public du Grand Nord
de l'Ontario (CSPGNO) school board.
"Opening a daycare at École publique Hélène-Gravel and asking
Le Carrefour francophone to manage it is a logical step in
offering the best possible services for francophone families,"
explained Louise d'Amour, CSPGNO education director. This new
daycare will be the first francophone licensed one in a school
setting to be located in the south end of the city of Greater
Sudbury.
As well as opening two new daycares, Le Carrefour francophone
already operates six licensed daycares in schools across the
region.
