Artists on Elgin is hosting an exhibition in February by artists working with the Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA).

The exhibition is called The Story of Us: A Narrative Painting Collective. A reception will take place from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 6.

NISA is an organization assisting individuals in using a variety of outlets to achieve and maintain mental wellness and recovery.

“Under the guidance of Kim Mullin-Santone, six NISA artists met weekly over the course of three months to create a series of narrative mixed-media paintings,” a press release said.

“Each week focused on a new skill, including transfer and painting techniques, and the use of expressive colour. The goal of the Creative Expression workshop was to help the participants discover the colours, shapes, images, and feelings important to them in creating their narratives.”
