Northern Ont. filmmakers showcasing shorts at Cinéfest

Cinéfest Sudbury has revealed the finalists for its 2023 shorts competition.

The finalists in the CTV Best in Shorts Competition will have their work screened to an audience at the upcoming festival.

The Northern Ontario filmmakers will also receive exposure within the film industry and have a chance to compete for a variety of cash prizes.

The screening and awards ceremony will occur on Saturday, Sept. 23 at noon.

And the list of finalists are: 

  • A Bunch of Junk [directed by Ian Johnson; Lively, Ont.]
  • Go Ont. and Bleed [directed by J. Christian Hamilton; Sudbury, Ont.]
  • I Know I Can Fly [directed by Matt Steeves; Temagami, Ont.]
  • Jerry Rigged [directed by Derek Dino Diorio; North Bay, Ont.]
  • l’Orbit [directed by Thomas Walton; Timmins, Ont.]
  • My Authentic Self (A Journey with Art and Autism) [directed by Stéphane Ostrander; Dowling, Ont.]
  • Walter’s Room [directed by Austin Lindsay; North Bay, Ont.]
  • When Little Johnny Sleeps [directed by Sabrina Wilson; Sudbury, Ont.]
