Three local teenage girls will see themselves on TV after acting as extras in Camp Rock 2, which premieres on Sept. 3 at 8 p.m. on the Family Channel.

Kaitlyn Greenough, 16, Shannon D'Angelo, 15 and Ally Burgess, 16, took part.

“It was so cool just being there,” Greenough said, just days before the movie was set to air.

The three friends all dance at Happiness is Dancing, and that's how they got involved in the film.

Burgess explained that the film's production team contacted the studio requesting actors aged 13 to 18 to play extras.
When the girls agreed to take part in the filming last September, they had no idea what it was for.

“We didn't think it was any big deal,” Burgess said. “They said it was a Disney movie, but they didn't say anything (more).”

When the girls found out the Jonas Brothers' were in town filming a movie, they put the two together. A lot of their friends did too, even though they were given strict orders not to tell anyone about their involvement with the movie.

“Everyone kind of knew because before (we said) 'we've got asked to be in some movie,' Greenough said. “Then everyone sees the Jonas Brothers are in town.”

D'Angelo said her and her friends were just taking part in the film for fun, while most of the other extras were professionals.

“All of the other extras were actually actors,” she said.

All three girls agreed being on set was a “cool” experience though.

“We did this (one particular) scene a couple times, just walking and pretending to talk and stuff, and Nick Jonas was watching the whole set, which was really cool,” Burgess said.

Greenough even got to chat with Chloe Bridges, a professional actor in the film, before she was told not to talk to the cast.

During the lunch break, all three girls waited in line with some other celebrities, like the Jonas Brothers' security guard Big Rob and their little brother Frankie Jonas.

“We're just casually with them,” Burgess said, chatting and eating lunch.

Greenough said she has already seen herself in some of the previews for the film, and looks forward to watching the full version.

“It's cool seeing yourself on the commercial,” she said.
