Sudbury opera fans packed live opera performances earlier this year at the Cineplex SilverCity Cinema.

Due to the overwhelming response to the first season of Metropolitan Opera: Live in High-Definition transmissions, opera fans will be able to enjoy more live performances starting Dec. 15 with Gounod's Roméo et Juliette, starring Anna Netrebko, the beautiful Russian soprano.

Cineplex Entertainment will begin selling advance tickets Nov. 9.

"Due to the resounding success of the 2006-2007 season performances with many theatres having sold out well in advance of the presentations, we are pleased to have more than doubled the number of theatres from 34 to 70," said Pat Marshall, vice-president, communications, Cineplex Entertainment.

"New this year is the opportunity to purchase season tickets, available in packages of three, five or all eight performances, to secure seats in advance to the hottest opera productions."

Admission for seniors is $16.95  and general admission is $19.95.
