Sudburians are invited to an afternoon of music March 4 in memory of Hubert Kruzel, who passed away Sept. 14.

The concert, which takes place at St. Andrew's Place downtown, is being put on by Thorneloe University. Kruzel was a well-known patron and supporter of music and the arts in Greater Sudbury.

The concert, which begins at 3 p.m., features special guest Jan Overduin, Professor Emeritus of Organ and Church Music at Wilfrid Laurier University,

He will be leading the program with a showcase of music from the masters with works by composers such as Bach, Mendelssohn, Mozart and Messiaen.
Overduin will be joined by local pianist Robert Hall to present two well-known works arranged for piano and organ, Bach’s Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring and the stirring Crown Imperial by William Walton.

“Hubert Kruzel was a great a supporter of the Sudbury Symphony Orchestra and the arts in Sudbury,” said Robert Derrenbacker, president of Thorneloe University.

“We’re happy to honour his contributions to music, his community and his legacy to the classics with an evening remembering Mr. Kruzel on March 4th.”

Admission is free. Donations will be accepted in support of the Chapel Organ Fund at Thorneloe University.
