(CNW) Reader's Digest went directly to parents to let them have their say about their children's teachers.
The article, Getting Parents and Teachers to Talk, in the
September issue of Reader's Digest has some surprises.
Ninety percent of parents feel teachers are doing a good or
very good job.
Seventy-one percent of parents are happy their children are
being taught to think creatively, with teachers encouraging
questions and discussion. Parents also appreciate being
informed when their child is having trouble with a particular
subject and being advised on how they, as parents, can help
out.
Sixty-two percent of parents would like to be able to give
teachers report cards at the end of the year, an idea which,
unsurprisingly, doesn't sit well with many teachers.
Forty-four percent of parents would also like to ensure
teachers act on the issues they discuss with parents during
parent-teacher meetings.
